UPAVP New Affordable Housing Scheme in Lucknow 2015

UPAVP (Uttar Pradesh Awas Vikas Parisad) is all set to launch new affordable housing scheme in Lucknow on the Republic Day, 26 January 2015. The scheme has been launched under the latest initiative of Samajwadi Party Awas Yojna in which the State Government has proposed to build about 2 Lakh affordable homes across the state.

UPAVP will open registrations for about 5500 affordable homes in the state capital Lucknow under two different schemes. Out of the total, the Awas Vikas Parisad will construct about 3000 flats in the Vrindavan Yojna and rest 2500 in Avadh Vihar Yojna in Lucknow. The location of the Avadh Vihar Yojna would be near Shaheed Path in Gomti Nagar extension.

The applications for the affordable housing scheme will be invited through both online and offline modes. The registrations will be opened for about a month, i.e. till the end of February 2015.

Uttar Pradesh Government has given the target of building at least 10000 affordable homes within next two years to UPAVP and other housing development bodies of the state. These homes are to be constructed in Meerut, Agra and Ghaziabad.

Cost of housing units under the new scheme in Vrindavan Yojna and Avadh Vihar Yojna would are expected to be between Rs. 15 Lakh to 22 Lakh based on the size and floor. UPAVP will also be constructing such affordable homes in other cities as well.

The new scheme will cater to the housing needs of middle income group of the society for which the upper limit of construction cost has already been fixed by the state government with carpet area of 65 sq mt to 75 sq mt. The price ceiling would be 3,000/sq feet in the National Capital Region, 2,800 in metros and 2,500 in other cities.

However, according to some sources, UPAVP is also planning to further reduce the construction cost to make the flats even cheaper.
