DDA Decides July End for 2014 Housing Scheme Launch

On one hand where people of Delhi are eagerly waiting for the DDA’s new housing scheme, the authority on the other hand has delayed the scheme launch by one month. The largest ever offering of DDA with 27000 flats which was expected to be launched by the June end will now be launched in July End.

Delhi Development Authority will roll out the new scheme by July end, according to DDA vice-chairman Balvinder Kumar. The new DDA scheme will offer over 26,000 flats for LIG, MIG, LIG and EWS sections of the society. Most of the flats in the scheme are being built with “green technology” to ensure the environment protection.

“We have 24,000 one-room apartments and another 2000- 2,500 flats lined up in the DDA, 2014, housing scheme. The houses will be spread across Rohini, Narela and Dwarka and will be priced from Rs 14-15 lakh to Rs 1 crore. And, we should be able to launch the largest ever scheme by July end,” DDA vice-chairman Balvinder Kumar told PTI.

The new much-awaited scheme is coming after four years when DDA last launched housing scheme in 2010 when it offered 16000 flats.

24,000 flats will be low-cost offering one bedroom for the economically weaker sections of the society. Rest 2000 – 2,500 flats will be available distributed across LIG, MIG and HIG categories. However the authority still has to decide whether the one-room flats would be made available to all or only to the economically weaker sections.

The pre-fabricated technology and the green features in these flats is used for the first time in DDA houses. The flats are being built in accordance with the Delhi’s 2021 Master Plan.

The 4 storeyed and above flats will be offered in the areas of Rohini, Narela and Dwarka. According to Kumar, “By July, 15,000 flats should be ready, another major chunk by December end and, finally, about 1,000 will be completed by March next year.”

The flats will be distributed through a draw after the work is completed.
