As many as 50 metro stations will be constructed in the 108 KM long route of the project. 1. Policy planning transport particularly in Gurgaon is being carried out from the point of view of existing infrastructure and its organic expansion. There is an existing metro line ending at HUDA City centre which was executed to evacuate the Delhi population to go for work in Gurgaon and the reverse. So the cheaper option was to lay a network along the existing Mehrauli – Gurgaon road and a connectivity for re transporting them to Cyber city or Udyog Vihar is planned through the private network of Rapid Metro intersecting at Sikandarpur. Population from Panjabi bagh and beyond is currently travelling to Connaught Place and then coming along the Line 2. They will later do so by travelling along the Ring Road Line to AIMS or along the outer ring road line upto Haus Khas and then come on Line 2. The congestion will continue as the travellers will increase.
Now another project is being conceived to connect the Dwarka Metro to IFFCO chowk so as to move traffic from Najafgarh/Dwarka residents. So this link will only be a small traffic generator. It will not help residents of Gurgaon who have very little on offer from that part of Delhi (Dwarka/Najafgarh). It will not support the main population of Old Gurgaon and beyond in their local travel towards Palam Vihar or Pataudi or Manesar via the Industrial areas.
This article provides planning to connect Gurgaon to Bawal via Manesar – it will mostly be through extension of the line ahead of Huda city centre via NH 8.
However attempts to facilitate local movement. This will be a slow moving corridor but it overlooks the problem of congestion and in evacuating people who are coming along the NH 8 from Rewari and Behrod and Manesar etc and going to the airport or Delhi and to New Delhi railway station.
Her it is proposed that the Airport Express line from New Delhi Railway Station tGI Airport(Express metro) is being currently subsidised due to want of traffic and earning losses. Instead it is proposed that the Airport Express gets extended from Aerocity station towards Udyog Vihar and proceed further towards Rajiv Chowk, Haldiram, Manesar and upto Behrod initially and then beyond. The advantage of this extension of the Airport express from Aero city into Haryana are:-
    a. A fast corridor available to all commuters on the NH 8 will enable movement from Manesar all the way to the airport without congesting the highway. Similarly they can travel upto New Delhi Rly station at high speed and save time and fuel.
    – Major pollution levels faced by Gurgaon from this transiting traffic will be added benefit.
    – Stations enroute can be at major crossings such as the Hero Honda Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Cyber city, Rajokari, location near Shiva Statue, Aero city and then beyond on the existing network.
    b. Working population in Cyber city and Udyog Vihar will have another corridor for fast travel from Delhi. It will reduce the traffic caused by the chartered buses and taxis currently being used by the call centres etc.
    c. Current under construction corridor from Janakpuri via Delhi Palam airport to Botanical garden as well as the corridor along the Ring Road will enable this traffic to feed them instead of all the way via the Line 2 (Yellow Line)
    d. Provide the connectivity for travel from Gurgaon to Aero city and then to Sector 21 in Dwarka and beyond.

Time has come to visualise and plan evacuation of traffic from the main networks through express lines and reduce congestion on the roads especially the arterial ones. The Paris ‘RER’ Metro Network is a very good example to be emulated. The current metro line ending at Huda City Centre needs to be extended along Vikas Marg towards offices and townships along the Sohna road.
