Keeping in mind high priority of housing for all by 2022, Mr. Naidu said that planning of new residential colonies should include more houses for poor people of the society. Mr. Naidu also said that the rules must be followed so that squatting and land grab does not become the daunting problem that it currently is.

Naidu also takes on the town planning officers regarding unauthorized developments. He said that the town planning should be fully responsible for not allowing any unauthorized constructions in the city. Mr. Naidu has already met officials and MP’s of Delhi regarding the un-authorized developments and have asked them to come up with the suggestions in next meeting. Naidu urged that the future developments must go hand in hand with strict enforcement and these reforms could be linked to central aid.

According to the statement given to TOI by Mr. Naidu, there are about 5 Lakh people in Delhi alone who are shelterless.

Mr. Naidu has instructed officials to be extra careful in regards with the reforms and development planning being done by the new Government. He also clearly stated that if the officials fail to accurately execute the city’s master plan will not get any help from the Centre.
