Adhering to the Supreme Court order of allotting the plots to the 744 waiting applicants of 1981 Rohini Scheme, DDA has decided to hold the final draw of allotment on 8th August.
DDA launched the Rohini Residential scheme in 1981 to provide homes to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Low Income Group (LIG) and Middle Income Group (MIG). More than 82 thousand applicants were registered in the scheme and more than 55000 applicants were allotted homes by 2007. A major draw held in 2012 resulted in allotment to another 25 thousand plus applicants. The rest 744 applicants are kept waiting since last 33 years.
The venue of the draw would be Vikas Sadan, INA. Earlier this month, Supreme Court ordered Delhi Development Authority to allot the plots to the remaining 744 applicants of 1981 Rohini scheme within 4 months. DDA earlier agreed the delay in the land acquisition and hence the allotment.
DDA is also planning to launch its largest ever housing scheme in various parts of the capital city where it is offering about 27000 flats for all categories including EWS, LIG, MIG and HIG. The scheme is expected to be launched in the first week/s of August. In the new 2014 DDA housing scheme, 90% of the homes will be built for the EWS/LIG category and the cost is estimated at around Rs. 12 Lakh.
