SRISTI – Sustainable Rooftop Implementation for Solar Transfiguration of India, is a new scheme proposed by Ministry of New & Renewable Energy for the installation of rooftop solar power plant projects across India. Under the scheme, incentives will be provided by the central government to the beneficiary.

Solar power plant subsidy scheme is a revised scheme of MNRE for solar rooftop projects in Phase II. the objective of SRISTI scheme is to generate 40 GW power from the solar rooftops by FY 2021-2022, for Centre will spend over spend Rs. 23,450 to make the scheme successful.

SRISTI Scheme – Features

Below are some of the features and highlights of Solar power plant subsidy scheme

  • Subsidy will be provided for the installation of Rooftop solar power plants.
  • In Phase II, the scheme will be lived with some advanced features and technology.
  • It is an advanced version of the previous MNRE scheme.
  • Residential user will be provided financial assistance for the installation of rooftop solar power plants.
  • Users of the residential areas can install the particular in-line capacity as per their necessity and their SERC (State Electricity Regulation Commission) Regulation.
  • Subsidy will be provided by central government on the installation of power plants up to the capacity of 5 KWP.
  • Through this scheme, the government aims to generate 40,000 MW power with a total outlay of Rs 23,450 crore.

SRISTI Scheme – Incentives & Subsidy

People who will install rooftop solar power plants will be provided incentives and subsidy.

  • The incentive towards subsidy to the residential sector is capped at Rs. 18,000 per kW calculated at benchmark cost of Rs. 60,000 per kW.
  • The incentive to discoms for social, institutional, government sectors, commercial and industrial sector is capped at Rs. 5,500 per kW calculated at benchmark cost of Rs. 55,000 per kW.
  • The total incentive for the residential sector stands at Rs. 9,000 crore for 5000 MW of installations. The incentive to discoms is capped at Rs. 14,450 crore for 35,000 MW of roof top solar installations.
  • The total outlay is Rs. 23,450 crore for 40,000 MW of roof top solar installations.
  • Commercial and industrial sector will set up 20,000 MW, the government, Residential, Social and the Institutional sector will set up 5,000 MW each.

SRISTI scheme is an initiative towards Green Energy. This Sarkari Yojana will help in increasing the use of solar energy in India and residential people can adopt for cleaner electricity generation mechanism.
