NMRC, Noida’s Own Metro Rail Company

Noida Authority has now finally formed its own metro rail company named NMRC (Noida Metro Rail Company) after it made an announcement one and half year before. NMRC has been registered under the central government agencies that work under the ministry of corporate affairs in Kanpur. UP cabinet has already given its green signal to the ambitious project.

NMRC will be responsible for the development of metro rail projects in Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway similar to DMRC. The decision to form a separate entity was taken in order to decrease the burden of metro projects on DMRC and expedite the work of metro projects in Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway.

The 30 Kilometer metro link between Greater Noida’s Bodaki and Noida City Centre will be the first projects of NMRC. Noida Authority senior officer said that DMRC will assist NMRC for building its first 30 km metro project. However, the project will be run by NMRC on its own. Once NMRC will gain experience of building and running a metro project, it will take up new metro projects in UP. The authority has started NMRC with an initial capital of Rs 1000 crores.

The finance controller (FC) of Noida Authority GP Singh said that CEO Rama Raman will be the NMRC’s first managing director (MD) and chief secretary Alok Ranjan will be first chairman. The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India will carry out auditing of NMRC.

In the next board meeting, the member of NMRC will define its legal and operational provisions. “After Bangalore, Kochi, Jaipur and Chandigarh, Noida has become a city to boast its own metro rail company,” he also added.
