India’s First Smart City to be Developed in Delhi

Delhi will be the first to witness the development of India’s first smart city, àccording to Union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu. India’s first smart city will be developed in Delhi to decongest it and provide ultra modern facilities.

Delhi will be developed into a truly global smart city which will have all the modern amenities and facilities similar to any other global city such as London or San Francisco. The Smart city in Delhi will also have the DisnyLand and Universal Studios like entertainment venues.

Union Minister Mr. Naidu attended the function at Vikas Sadan where the allotment letters of DDA housing scheme 2014 were distributed to the winners on 3rd January. During the function Mr. Naidu Said “Delhi is the heart of India and the first smart city would come up here. The city of Barcelona in Spain has also promised technological support to us in our effort in this direction”.

According to Mr. Naidu, apart from adding the modern infrastructure, Delhi will also preserve its traditional and ancient architecture. Taking the smart city initiative further, Mr. Naidu focused on providing education, healthcare and entertainment facilities of international standards.

The proposed smart city would be a sub-city and to be located zoned out of Dwarka, Narela and Rohini. The area of smart city would be around 20-24 hectares. It will be equipped with latest technologies and waste management techniques.

The smart city will be developed on the defined benchmarks of smart cities which includes wi-fi facilities, 24 hour water and power supply among other facilities.
