First Step Towards Building Visakhapatnam a Smart City

As a part of building Ajmer, Allahabad and Visakhapatnam a smart city in corporation with United States, the country’s delegation visited Visakhapatnam on December 5th to have a preliminary study on ground realities and areas of cooperation.

The American delegation met officials of city administration at VUDA office here on Friday and discussed the modalities of extending support from the US government. US delegation was led by Counselor for Commercial Affairs US Embassy in New Delhi Dillon Banerjee.

Y. Madhusudhan Reddy, Managing Director of AP Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation, Vizag Port Trust Chairman M.T. Krishna Babu, Collector N. Yuvaraj, in charge Commissioner of GVMC and joint Collector Praveen Kumar and in charge Vice-Chairman of VUDA and CMD of APEPDCL M.V. Seshagiri Babu were among the officials who interacted with the delegation.

The discussions were made about the availability of resources, local needs, necessity of further infrastructure to turn Visakhapatnam into a global smart city. Funding aspects from state and central governments, studies and surveys were also the part of discussion during the meeting.

Indian officials made a presentation about the city and current development activities. The meeting resolved with a plan to come up with a action plan for the smart city with keen study and survey about the funding.
