Delhi – Ghaziabad Metro Route Ground Work to Begin in 3 Months

Finally, “Achche Din Aa Gaye” for the people of Ghaziabad as the Metro rail will reach there within next three years with ground work to begin in next 3 months.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the development Delhi to Ghaziabad metro route. The 9.41 kilometer expansion will start from Dilshad Garden in Delhi to Ghaziabad’s New Bus Stand. The cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 1,770 crore.

The MoU was signed at the Ghaziabad authority’s headquarters between GDA vice-chairman, Santosh Yadav and DMRC’s director of business development, SD Sharma, in the presence of Delhi Metro MD Mangu Singh.

The Delhi-Ghaziabad metro stretch will have a total of seven stations – Shaheed Nagar, Rajbagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala and New Bus Stand. The corridor is expected to be completed within 3 years from now, by June 2017.

According to Metro officials, work will be expedited to commission the project ahead of schedule. Delhi Metro MD Mangu Singh said, “Work on technical studies, including soil profiling and ensuring proper power supply for the project, will immediately start. The actual work on ground can be seen in the next three months.”

The estimated cost of Rs. 1,770 crore will be shared by the Union government, the state government and the DMRC for the elevated track as per the funding pattern decided in 2013.

GDA vice-chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav said that they will try to further extend the corridor up to the CBI Academy in the next phase.
