After the decision of Government to replace the urban civic body with the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), the staff & retired employees of Vijaywada-Guntur-Tenali-Managalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTM-UDA) are in anxiety.

An ordinance is expected to be issued in a couple of days for replacing UDA with CRDA, by this ordinance all the duties and responsibilities of UDA are expected to be transferred to CRDA. This ordinance has no clarity on the issue of transfer of staff as it involves many legal complications.

Senior Planner of UDA, Nageswara Rao said that UDA employees have now taken to meet public representative to plead their case. The staff, who are not directly employed by the government, are demanding that they should be either absorbed into government service or the new CRDA. “The Government should give clarity on the future of UDA employees,” he also added.
