Today, the central government launched Ayushman Bharat Yojana, is health care scheme for all the people belongs to BPL families. The Pradhan Mantri health care scheme was announced in the Union Budget 2018-19 and today on the celebration of B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti (14 April 2018), Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates first Health and Wellness Center (HWC) in Jangla, district Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. Under the scheme, the government will transform sub-centers and primary health care centers into Health and Wellness Centres (HWC). These HWC will provide the comprehensive health care service to the people of BPL families.

Ayushman Bharat Yojana will include all secondary and tertiary hospitalization process in public / private empanelled hospitals. As per the information, the National Health Protection Scheme beneficiaries includes 10 crore bpl families.

Pradhan Mantri Health Care scheme for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the govt. will redevelop about 1,50,000 Sub centers and primary health centers into Health and Wellness Centres (HWC). PM Ayushman Bharat Yojana is an initiative of central government for providing free, cashless and paperless treatment to BPL families under Universal Health Insurance Scheme. As a benefit, the scheme will provide an insurance coverage of Rs. 5.0 lakh to all bpl families. There is no eligibility for the scheme such as income, family size, age and other limits.
ABY will also cover pre and post hospitalization benefits and its benefits are portable across the country. Payment of treatment will be made on Package Rate basis and all cost of treatment will get included in it.
