Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan- Rs.20 Lakh Crore Boost for Self-Reliant India

PM Narendra Modi announced Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan in which Rs.20 lakh crore economic package to help individuals and business deal with the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown enforced to combat its spread and to, as he put it, trun the crisis into an opportunity.

Details of the package, which is equivlent of the little below 10% of the GDP will be announced over the next few days, staring Wednesday by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the package Atmanibhar Bharat Abhiyan (Self-reliant India Mission) would cover land liquidity and law industry and businesses of all sizes and farmers, enterpreneurs and the middle class. Prime Minister repeatdly stress on the theme of self-reliance and the importance of keeping manufacturing market and supply chains local.

Addressing the nation for 5th time since March 2020, the PM Said that the central government will provide Rs.20 lakh crore in 2020. This Aatmanibhar Bharat Abhiyan package is inclusive of the already announced 1.7 lakh crore Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana and 1.7 lakh crore package by the RBI. The main focus of Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan will be on making India a Manufacturing hub as the country has youngest workforce.

The central Bank has announced liquidity infusion and targeted credit measure aggregating anything between 4.5 lakh crore. That means the package to be announced over the next few days will total around 14 lakh crore.
