DMRC Plans to Launch New Housing Project at Janakpuri for 300 Flats

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is planning for a new residential project in Janakpuri. According to the source, DMRC already launched a housing project in Okhla besides this, the authority is planning to starts a new housing project at Janakpuri (West) Metro station. In the start of this month, the corporation had floated tenders for the design of the project.

The project will be constructed over the land of 1.128 hectares with around 300 flats. According to the officials of DMRC, the company is looking for constructing housing projects in the areas including Parmeshwariwala Bagh, Mundka and Dwarka Sector 21 depot.

DMRC Residential project at Janakpuri (West) will be constructed in the period of three years. “The idea is to have green buildings that are energy efficient, with other green features like water recycling etc,” added official. Besides this, Delhi Metro will also develop the plot in the area of 11,280 square meter at Janakpur (West) under the norms of Transit Oriented Development.

According to the source, the concept plan for plot has already been created. It will have different sizes of plots with some reserved units for EWS category.

Along with residential units, a commercial area of around 5,000 square meter will also be constructed by DMRC. “DMRC is planning to bring a scheme to sell these flats directly to the public, government organisations and PSUs by inviting applications,” said Dayal.

Delhi Metro has been trying to increase its revenue through property development for some years now. It has been trying to sell the space at stations, as well as other pockets of land as part of its property development unit, but has had a mixed response.
