2015 MHADA Housing Lottery in May for 1100 Flats

Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) is all set to announce first housing lottery of 2015 in May. The authority has decided to launch two housing lotteries in 2015 instead on one. The authority will be offering about 1100 flats in the first housing lottery and rest 1900 homes will be offered in the second lottery in December.

According to the Mid-Day report, the nearly 1,200 homes will be up for grabs in Borivli in December, along with flats in Virar. The authority has decided to conduct May lottery for the homes which can be handed over to the winners within 12 months.

The decision of bringing two lotteries instead of one was taken during a meeting held yesterday along with the decision of buying more land for development of more housing units. The Authority has set aside Rs. 500 Crores for the land buying purpose.

There are about 6,000 affordable homes under construction under the MHADA portfolio out of which nearly 3000 will be offered this year.

A public relations officer of MHADA said, “The CEO decided that after the lottery process is complete, people who have received homes should not be made to wait for long. Thus only houses that are complete, or are on the verge of completion, will be included in the lottery.”

The authority earlier decided to offer 4468 flats in MHADA 2015 lottery out of which about 785 to be offered in Mumbai and rest 3683 in Virar.
