Workorders Issued to 11,228 Beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana in Odisha

Odisha state government has issued a workorders for the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. On Monday, 26 December 2016, an state-level function was organised in the Secretariat in city and during the function, CM Naveen Patnaik issued workorders to around 11,228 beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana in Odisha. It is a Odisha Urban Housing Mission for providing housing units the needy people of the society.

A target has been set up for providing around 50,000 houses in 2016-17 and in 2017-18 around 1 lakh houses will benefit the economically backward and low income group.

According to the information, around 23,843 beneficiaries has been selected under Odisha Urban Housing Mission in 2016-17 and these beneficiaries selected from 40 urban bodies of 27 districts of Odisha. Besides this, 11548 houses have been sanctioned in the capital city and in the steel city of Rourkela through the affordable housing project.

Odisha Urban Housing Mission is part of encouragement of central government’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY). The main purpose of PMAY is to make available an affordable houses to all urban poor across the nation.

Through the housing scheme, an economically backward family can avail Rs 2 lakh financial aid for construction of house. Also, the desirous family should have an annual income of less than Rs 1.8 lakh and a bona fide land registration certificate to get the monetary assistance under the scheme.

As per sources, financial assistance under the scheme will be transferred directly to the bank account of the beneficiary.
