TNHB New Housing Scheme to be Launched By End of 2015

New Housing Scheme in Chennai: Chief Minister of Chennai J Jayalalithaa has made an announcement to construct houses. According to the announcement, 2300 apartment for lower income group (LIG) would be constructed by Tamil Nadu Housing Board at Ambattur in Chennai and the state government of Chennai will give an amount of Rs. 380 crore to TNHB to construct these housing. The apartment would be comprised of two bedrooms and the unit will be available at less than 20 lakh.

The CM also told the TNHB board to construct 500 apartments for government employees at Villivakkam. This step to construct apartments in Villivakkam is taken for C and D class government employees and the project for government employees would be constructed at the cost of Rs. 225 crore. Each units in the project will have two bedrooms, a hall, kitchen, a toilet and a lunch hall. It is said by CM that the construction process of the project will starts by the end of this year.

As many as 2,800 apartments for LIG and middle income groups (MIG) and 12,500 apartments for economically weaker sections in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Vellore, Cuddalore, Krishnagiri, Salem, Madurai and Trichy districts were among the other housing schemes announced by the chief minister.

Along with the construction of new housing units in Chennai, The board will also repair apartments which was constructed several year ago by Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board. The whole state Clustered with 1.55 lakh apartments in slum areas. Of total, some are in condemn condition. The task to repair and maintenance of these old apartments has been given to the board at the cost of Rs. 10 crore.

A proposal to construct a container truck parking yard at Ennore is also proposed by CM. The area is heavily congested area of North Chennai. The parking area would be constructed over the area of 29 acres at Ernavur near Ennore. The parking facility would also be constructed by Tamil Nadu Housing Board and the parking area can stack upto 900 trucks. The Parking area will be construct at a cost of Rs. 100 crores.
