Target to Construct Five Lakh Houses in MP Under PMAY

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: In Bhopal, a state level one-day workshop on the second phase –II of PMAY on low-cost houses through credit-related subsidy will be held under the aegis of National Housing Bank.

Malay Shrivastava, the Principal Secretary of Urban Development urged the institutes of state government, private developers and fiscal institutes to collaborate in the national process of providing housing units to urban poor in all urban area.

Shrivastava Said in his statement that the loan should be provided to beneficiaries reposing trust in them and the scheme must be publicized upto maximum. Vivek Agrawal, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary stated that a target of constructing 5 lakh housing units has been set in the vision documents of state government. Mixed housing units will be constructed for low income group and economically weaker section.

Around Rs. 50 crore amount is proposed by Central and state governments and other national and international financial institutions for infrastructure development to achieve the development target in Madhya Pradesh during next 3-5 years.

According to the statement of Mission Director Additional Commissioner Priyanka Das, in 36 cities – one lakh beneficiaries have identified under the scheme. Financial institutions will have important role in its success by providing loans to beneficiaries.

In Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur and Gwalior, around 20 thousand housing units have been constructed for police and personnel of low income group and economical weaker section, informed by Police Housing Board’s ADG Sanjay Rana.

Shriram Kalyan Raman, the MD of National Housing Bank quoted that, the bank and HUDCO have been appointed as Central Nodal Agencies by Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Ministry. Agency will provide loan subsidy to financial institutions within 30 days. The bank will provide loans at concessional rate of 6.12 percent to all construction agencies for construction of houses and infrastructure development.

At the workshop, loan sanction letters were also distributed to beneficiaries of Bhopal, Dewas, Rajgarh, Biaora and Hoshangabad cities. An MoU for scheme’s implementation was signed between Madhyanchal Grameen Bank and National Housing Bank.
