Secunderabad Cantonment Master Plan Put on Hold

The proposed master plan of Secunderabad has been put on hold for more than six months due to the less harmony between Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).

The proposed master plan of Secundarabad may not be forwarded until the matter between SCB and HMDA sorted out. According to the source, from the initial start of SCB, there is no master plans and land use plan for SCB leading to haphazard development of Secunderabad Cantonment area. Secunderabad Cantonment is spread over the area of 40.17 square kilometer over which 5-6 lakh people living. The area is local body which is administrated by Union Defence Ministry. However the primarily responsibility of carrying out the civic amenities of the residents of the Cantonment area is of SCB.

The state government had decided last year to prepare the master plan for Secunderabad Cantonment after the request of SCB. And further floated bids in this regards and finalized lowest bidder M/s Feedback Infra Pvt Ltd (Gurgoan) to prepare the master plan and land use plan of the area in about six month time period.

The above agency had made a bid of Rs. 62 lakh for the above work and the agency has been approved by executive committee of HMDA after a meeting hold on February 18. The HMDA has written a letter to SCB to give acceptance and pay `68.20 lakh including 10 percent of administrative charges (`6.20 lakh) for procurement of satellite imagery, manpower and other costs.
