Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Assam – Free LPG Connections for BPL Families

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is an initiative of central government towards providing free LPG gas connections to women belonging to BPL families. After successfully implemented the Free Gas connection scheme for BPL card holders, Petroleum and Natural Gas Department launched Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) Assam.

Under the scheme, government will provide a free gas connection to the women (BPL Card Holder).

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Assam

Ujjwala Yojana is a flagship scheme of central government has been launched in the state of Assam for providing free gas connection to the women head of BPL families and the beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is being done on the basis of Socio-Economic Census Data – 2011 (SECC-2011).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launched this scheme on 1st May 2016 with the aim of providing clean fuel to the BPL households and improve the health of women.

Under the scheme beneficiaries would be provided a financial assistance of Rs. 1600 per BPL household for providing LPG connection. And an option of EMI facility would also be provided for paying the cost of first refill and the purchase of gas stove.

Ujjwala Yojana Assam – Free Gas Connection for BPL Card Holders

PAHAL Digital Payment Scheme – LPG subsidy would be directly transferred to the beneficiaries account.
Beneficiaries Selection – On the basis of Socio-Economical Census Data 2017, beneficiaries would be selected for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Assam.
Monitoring and Implementation – Through PAHAL Scheme, PMUY would be monitored all the tasks and process like identification and selection of beneficiary for new LPG connection.
The Assam government received a funds of Rs. 6300 crore which would provided direct and indirect employment to around 80,000 people.

The scheme launched in Assam with the target to cover around 90 percent of BPL families by March 2019 and the priority would be given to those who do not have LPG connection and belonging to BPL and SC/ST families under PMUY and other government schemes.
