Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY): Indian government has announced the various schemes under the PM Garib Kalyan Yojana  to combat the current situation that has been created due to COVID-19 pandemic. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a coronavirus (COVID-19) relief package of RS.1.70 lakh crore on 26th March 2019 for Indian country citizens so that they can overcome the financial crunch they are facing due to the coronavirus lockdown.

PMGKY scheme is going to benefit 80 crore Indian people including urban an rural poor, migrant workers and women in the bottom rung of the socio-economic strata. Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana will ensure that no one will be hungry during lockdown, people stay at their home and maintain social distance to fight Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

There are the various scheme under PM Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) approach to fight Coronavirus COVID-19.

PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana 2024 – 10 KG Ration + 1KG Free

The government will cover 80 crore poor people about 2/3 of the country population under PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana. Now each such peoples will get 10 kg ration 5kg rice or wheat in addition to the 5 kg they already get along with 1kg of dal for next 3 month absolutely free of cost.

Medical Insurance Scheme for Health Workers Fighting Coronavirus COVID-19

Nirmala Sitharaman Finance Minister has announced medical Insurance of Rs.50 lakh under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package for Paramedic, Nurses, Asha workers and other people fighting on front line with COVID-19. Under PMGKY Scheme medical insurance of Rs.50 lakh will be benefit around 22 lakh people.

Rs.2000 DBT to Farmers under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana

The central government deposit Rs.2000 to bank account of farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana. Government has been deposit 1st installment of Rs.2000 in 1st week of April month.

MGNREGA Workers Wage Raised

The government approves Rs.20 wage increase for workers (Rs.202 from Rs.182) under Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The center will start this MGNREGA Workers wage raised initiative by providing Rs.2,000 additional income to daily wage workers.

Rs.500 for Jan Dhan Beneficiaries

The central government will provide Rs.500 ex-gratia per month for next 3 month to 20 crore Jan Dhan Account holder beneficiaries.

EX-Gratia to Old Age/ Widow/ Disabled

The government will provide ex gratia of Rs.1000 for senior citizens above 60 year, widows and disabled in 2 installment. This initiative will benefit around 3 crore poor people.

Gas Cylinder Free of Cost to PM Ujjwal Yojana Beneficiaries

The government will provide 3 gas cylinders free of cost for next 3 months (i.e April, May, June ) under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwal Yojana to 8.3 crore below poverty line families (BPL).

SHGs Workers – Extra 10 Lakh Collateral Loan

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced the benefits of Rs.63 lakh for SHG workers. The women self-help groups (SHGs) will be able to take collateral free loans up to Rs.20 lakh (previously Rs.10 lakh) with immediate effect.

Govt. to Pay EPF 24% (12%+12%)

The central government will be paid EPF contribution for both employer and employee around 24% (12%+12%) for next 3 months in establishment in which upto 100 people are employed.

Full Salary to Contractual Workers of Government

Another major announced stated the centre and state tax subsidy will continue for apparel export. All the contractual workers of the government will be paid full salary, irrespective of the disruption caused by the coronavirus scare.

There is no online or offline application procedure for Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yoana till now. The money will be transferred to the accounts of the poor through direct transfer. The government has said that there is no need to apply or register anywhere for the PMGKY scheme benefits.
