PM Awas Yojana: UP Government Initiates Action for Providing Houses

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: The residents of Uttar Pradesh will soon get a house under the scheme. On yesterday, the state government of UP has taken a step towards providing houses to all by 2022 under PM Awas Yojana. The UP government has initiated the action after getting approval from the appropriate level.

According to the source, a survey had been conducted by the state government in 35 cities of the state to identify the beneficiary under the scheme.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan directed the senior official to send detailed report of the cities where survey is completed along with recommendation to Union government in April 2016 itself and obtained district-wise permission, so that houses could be provided to the needy as soon as possible.

He also informed about the progress on the issue to the cabinet Secretary, through video-conferencing.
Apart from PM Awas Yojana, the state government had also provided 30 lakh houses with essential facilities to eligible beneficiaries under Lohia Awas Yojana at the cost of Rs. 3 lakh. The state government is also providing houses to 8,000 beneficiaries under Asra Yojana, he also added.

Video-conferencing was attended by Principal Secretary, Housing Sadakant, Principal Secretary, Rural Development Deepak Trivedi, Commissioner, Housing Development Kamran Rizvi and Director, State Urban Development Agency Shailendra Kumar Singh along with other officials concerned.
