Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Aurangabad: The central government housing scheme is rapidly spreading in across the nation. In one more city, the scheme has been launched. According to the source, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation has launched Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and inaugurated the online registration process in the presence of Mayor Trimbak Tupe and Deputy Mayor Promod Rathod, standing committee chairman Mohan Meghawale and leader of the house Rajendra Janjal among others.

While launching the scheme, the authority said that the registrations for the central government scheme will be opened till 15 days wherein the AMC expected to receive around 50,000 applicants for the scheme.

The eligible applicants from the desired income group may apply for housing units in the scheme. Meanwhile, the Executive engineer in AMC Sikander Ali said that “Homeless citizens residing in the city for the past 15 years will be eligible for the scheme. Based on their annual income, applicants would be divided into different groups which would eventually decide the quantum of subsidy for the beneficiaries.”

The civic body appealed citizens belonging to various income group of the society to avail the benefits of the scheme. The goal of implementing the scheme into the area is to meet the housing requirement of people including slum dweller by 2022.

Further, the authority said that after collecting the applications for the scheme, the applications will be sent to the central government for announcing the final list of beneficiaries.
