Mysore Master Plan 2031: Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) of Nanjangud would be notified soon may be within 20 days. K R Mohan Kumar, the Chairman of MUDA (Mysore Urban Development Authority) said that the CDP would be send to the government for final approval after the analyzation.

According to the source Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed some changes to the CDP which would be implemented before its notification.

A meeting has been scheduled for upcoming Thursday to include the changes and for further processing the plan will send to government for process of notification.

Mohan Kumar said that District In-charge Minister V Srinivas Prasad, Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Secretary for Urban Development (Town Planning) T K Anil Kumar, Director for Town Planning B M Tirukanagoudar, MUDA Commissioner M Mahesh, MLAs M K Somasekhar, Vasu and Tanveer Sait, and myself will attend the meet and finalize the draft of the CDP and forward it to the government for final approval and notification.

In the existing CDP, the MLAs have also listed few flaws that may also be rectified before finalization after discussion on Thursday.

According to the official of MUDA, Mohan Kumar, “Since the earlier BJP government could not notify the CDP following its preliminary approval on August 1, 2012, and also inviting public objections and incorporation of changes, based on 620 genuine objections, the present government is mandated to notify it. The High Court, based on a petition, had issued an ultimatum to notify it within eight months, last year itself. The government had sought an extension of four more months. Now, only one and a half months is left to meet the deadline”.

Many NGOs and MLAs has sought to sketch a fresh plan and they are opposing the existing CDP. So, the government was contemplating a new CDP but the High Court issued the directions based on a petition.

The changes should be in the interest of the city and not based on any political or business considerations sourced by R Chandra Prakash, convener of Mysore Grahaka Parishat, the organization advocating a fresh Comprehensive Development Plan for Mysore.

He also added that the existing CDP has no plans to decongest and conserve the central business district. There is no proposal for better connectivity with neighboring towns. Once the double railway track is ready, the pressure from Bengaluru will shift to Mysore. Many such practical problems have not been considered in the CDP.
