MP Govt to Launch Housing Guarantee Act for Providing House to Poor

State government of Madhya Pradesh is all set to launch an ambitious Garib Kalyan Agenda for poverty alleviation. The agenda is an initiative towards housing for all scheme. Under this agenda, the CM of MP, Shivraj Singh Chouhan is all set to announce a Housing Guarantee Act for providing housing for all to people.

The CM of MP also heads the Garib Kalyan Agenda committee and directed the official to organize a Garib Kalyan Mela. In this event, government schemes will be presented with the aim to facilitate the poor. Garib Kalyan Mela is scheduled for 4 December 2016.

According to the information, around 1.5 lakh people to be present in the event. These people are aimed at benefiting government schemes.

The source said that the government is aimed at overall development where schemes for beneficiaries need to be publicized. Government is making a similar effort to train and inform public under Garib Kalyan Mela, which is scheduled to be held next month.

Underprivileged, disabled, domestic servants, labourers, rickshaw drivers, porters among others, will participate in the convention.

Chauhan’s announcement of preparing the pro-poor agenda could bring several schemes for the financial support of poor families, of which the first and foremost is `housing for all’. A subcommittee, formed to ensure affordable house for all homeless, will meet on November 8. The committee plans to table the Act in the state assembly’s budget session, next year.

The committee, presided by Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Gopal Bhargava, comprises Public Relations and Irrigation Minister Narottam Mishra, Revenue minister Umashankar Gupta and Local Administration and Housing Minister Maya Singh. The committee will also discuss the format of the Act.

Panchayat Minister Bhargava said that government has decided to guarantee housing for all and those covered under the Act will get affordable house. There will be initial meeting of the committee on Tuesday and we will ensure that all members of society get benefited through the scheme.

Under the proposed agenda, the government will provide a residential plots of 20-30 square meter size to the eligible people.

On the recommendations of the subcommittee, the government will form state and district-level committees to register the eligible beneficiaries, they said. It was also stated that homeless in Bhopal and Indore will be benefited the most.

According to the source, around 76,000 people in rural area and more than 1.25 lakh people are homeless in Madhya Pradesh. The proposed government scheme of MP will benefit the beneficiaries on basis of socio-economic survey of 2011 Census and these eligible person will further also be verified.

It was also stated that after submitting recommendations on Garib Kalyan Agenda by the committee headed by Chouhan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce beneficiary schemes for the poor in Delhi.
