The source said that the announcement for the lottery of MHADA for year 2016 will be made in the mid of January after discussing with housing ministry.

In MHADA lottery 2015, the authority had not offered a single unit for Higher Income Group (HIG) Category. The flats under MHADA Lottery 2015 were priced at Rs. 18 lakh to Rs. 47 lakh which are located at Mankhurd, Sion, Mulund and Goregaon.

According to the source, it is expected that the flats under New Lottery of MHADA will be available in cheaper price as compared to the prices of flats offered in the last lottery. The reason behind the cheaper price is the factor of providing affordable houses.

The source said that instead of including buildings that have got Commencement Certificate (CC), only homes in buildings that are on the verge of getting an Occupation Certificate (OC) in the next six months will be included to avoid any delay in possession. Earlier, Mhada used to include buildings in which the construction work had started and only the CC had been granted.

In January 2016, the Konkon Board of MHADA will also announce the 4,000 affordable houses in Virar, Thane, and Mira road. The official of MHADA’s Konkan Board said that the flats under the scheme are available only for lower income group (LIG) and medium income group (MG) category. The size of LIG and MIG unit will be 484 square feet and 861 square feet respectively.
