The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) will be offering about 80% more homes in its housing lottery 2015 compared to the 2014 lottery. The authority will advertise about 4700 homes in its annual lottery of low cost homes.
LATEST UPDATE: MHADA Lottery 2015 Launching in May-June 2015.
MHADA had sold 2641 homes in 2014 lottery in Mumbai and Konkan. The authority offered 841 homes in Mumbai in 2014 and is expected to offer about 1000 homes in Mumbai in 2015 lottery. The decision was taken during a meeting between MHADA’s authority with state government officials on Friday. The homes in Mumbai may include 972 flats in Thane in next year’s lottery.
Apart from 1000 homes in Mumbai, the authority will be offering rest 3700 homes in Virar and Vengurla. The lottery will be announced sometimes in May 2015.
Along with the decision of offering more homes in 2015 lottery, the authority has also decided to setup a thinktank which will suggest innovative ways to build low cost houses. The thinktank will be headed by the chief executive of MHADA. The other members to be included in the team are chief officer of MHADA’s Mumbai Board and two officials from MHADA for engineering and technology side.
The housing secretary, chiefs of Pune Municipal Corporation, City and Industrial Development Corporation, the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) and the chief engineer from the civic body’s development plan department would be ex-officio members of the thinktank.
The housing experts from Tata institute of social sciences, Mumbai university, development research institutes and Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India will also be included in the committee to discuss the methods to increase affordable housing stock.
The cell will be working on ideas for building homes at reasonable cost, leveraging the new technology of construction and suggesting the pricing policies to MHADA.
