Indira Awas Yojana: Bihar Government to Construct Houses Under the Scheme

The state government of Bihar has approved the construction of 2,29,931 houses under Indira Awas Yojana. Yesterday, the state Legislative Council informed that the state has targeted to construct 2,33,546 houses in the state of which around 98.45 percent has been approved by the state government.

Shrawan Kumar, the Rural Development Minister said that the state government has received only one statement of money under Indira Awas Yojana in June 2015 for 29 out of 38 districts of the state.

The minister has also stated that the allotment work of construction of houses under IAY program is on pending process due the election code in the state during poll

The state government will also provide houses to those districts for which the state have not received funds from the center. According to the statement of Kumar for the nine districts which have not received central fund under the scheme were also provided house from the available fund given by the centre.

Against a target of 53,961 houses in such nine districts, 50,552 house proposal has been given green signal. The orders have been released for transfer of fund transfer money to 81.23 per cent of beneficiaries under Indira Awas Yojna, he also added.
