Housing For All Scheme Approved by Orissa State Cabinet

To fulfill the increasing demand of housing in the state, on Thursday 13 August 2015, the state cabinet has approved the proposal of “Housing for All” scheme. The proposal of Housing for All scheme has approved under the Orissa Housing Mission along with 18 other proposals.

Chief Minister of Orissa Mr. Naveen Patnaik is a person who approved the proposals in a cabinet meeting. In this meeting the approval has also been given to other policies including a new fisheries policy, restructuring of the Junior Engineer cadre in the Water Resources Department, amendment to the Biju Patnaik varsity of Technology Act and a new procurement policy of the MSME Department.

The Housing for All scheme has been approved under the Orissa housing mission and the government aims to provide affordable housing units to the poor and economical weaker sections and backward section in urban areas.

Housing for All is a mission which is recently started by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The scheme is also known as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna by which the government aims to provide housing to all homeless, urban poor and people belonging to EWS and LIG categories. Under the scheme approximately 2 crore houses will be constructed for weaker sections of the society.
