DDA Housing Scheme 2016 Delayed, Applications to be Rolled in Dec

DDA Housing Scheme 2016 will be launched in the end of December 2016, which was expected to roll out on Diwali. According to the source, the authority will roll out the applications under DDA Housing Scheme 2016 in the month of December. In the upcoming scheme, DDA will offer around 13,000 flats, of which nearly 350 are 2-bedroom MIG flats and remaining units are be either LIG flats or Janta flats.

To finalize the scheme, a meeting was scheduled for 23 September between DDA officials and lieutenant governor but due to a bureaucratic reshuffle, the meeting was postponed to 10 October.

In this bureaucratic reshuffle, the IAS officer Udai Pratap Singh replaced the vice-chairman Arun Goel. According to the officials “some important time was lost due to the bureau cratic reshuffle and decisions on important matters are still to be taken. Even if DDA speeds up the process, it would not be able to roll out the scheme before December-end.

The meeting which was scheduled for October 10 had also been postponed but the next date is yet to be decided. And the official of DDA said that “The ‘authority meeting’ scheduled on October 10 was postponed. The next date of meeting is yet to be decided. We can comment on the exact date when the scheme will be launched only after the meeting is held.”

Several issues such as increase in registration fees, for feature of registration money and partnership with banks and online applications issues will be taken in the next meeting. These things will take at least couple of months, the official said.

The upcoming scheme of DDA will definitely disturb the budget of the applicant. This time, DDA is likely to increase the registration fee. In the last scheme, security deposit was Rs. 1 lakh but this year, they will have to pay the Rs. 3 lakh for LIG flats and Rs. 5lakh for MIG flats.

To deter people from applying and then returning allotted flats, the agency might include the clause of forfeiture of registration money.

The agency is yet to finalise the deal with the banks that would partner with DDA in the scheme, he added.
