CHB Sector-63 Flat Scheme Records Seized in CBI Raid

On Monday, 26 October 2015, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid at the office of Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) in Sector-9. During the three-hour raid, the CBI team seized all the records related to the flats constructed in Sector-63 under General Self-Financing Housing Scheme-2008.

CBI responded after receiving a complaint alleging poor quality of construction material used in the flats constructed in Sector-63. The CBI team seized documents pertaining to tendering, allocation of work and the contractors who carried out the construction work of flats.

Meanwhile, a source said in his statement that the CBI will now inspect the document and will proceed further if any irregularity is found.

In Sector-63, total 2,108 flats has been constructed by Chandigarh Housing Board at the cost of Rs. 414.45 crore. The scheme comprised of 336 3BHK flats, 888 2BHK flats, 564 1BHK flats and 320 flats for the Economically Weaker Section.

In the last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the city and had handed over the keys and allotment letter to as many as 10 allottees. The draw of lots for the allotment of flats was held after receiving applications forms from the general public. The draw result was conducted on 5 July 2015 after conducting the draw, the CHB had published the list of applicants on its official website.
