Here is an opportunity for all the UAV enthusiasts to showcase the capabilities of the drones they are manufacturing. Ministry of Defence Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday  launched a newly designed web page for ‘Drone Olympics’ scheduled to be held at Aero India 2019 at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru.

Drone Olympics will not only encourage the UAV manufacturing in the country but also provide an opportunity to the Armed Forces to assess the capabilities that exist in the world. UAV market is considered as one of the fastest growing markets today as it starts from expensive military UAVs or small consumer toys, UAVs are now venturing into commercial space, basic surveillance, photography, site inspections, monitoring crops, collecting geographical data, delivery services.

How to Participate in Drone Olympic

1. The interested participants can log in to a web page through aeroindia.gov.in; Drone for registration of UAV players in the maiden event of Aero India.

2. Attach all the requisite documents.

3. All participants shall abide by the timelines as given in the website from time to time. Non-adherence would entail disqualification of the team.

Winning price

The winners will be honoured with medals and a cash prize of Rs. 38 lakhs to top three winners of each competition.

Winning price amount for 1st, 2nd and 3rd price of Surveillance Fixed VTOL (Multirotor), <4 Kg, 4-7 Kg, Hybrid Designs, <4 Kg, 4-7 Kg is Rs 3,00,000, Rs 1,50,000 and Rs 50,000.

For Supply Drop challenge and Flying Formation challenge the winning amount is Rs 5,00,000, Rs 3,00,000 and 1,00,000 respectively.

The last date of registration to participate in the event is January 26, 2019.

‘Drone Olympics’ is open to both Indian and international players. Three categories of the event, planned during the competition are Surveillance Challenge with four sub-categories which will determine the surveillance capability of the UAVs. Supply Drop Challenge to assess weight dropping capability and Formation Flying Challenge demonstrating different shapes with group of UAVs. The winners will be honoured with medals and a cash prize of Rs. 38 lakhs to top three winners of each competition. Last date of registration to participate in event is January 26, 2019.
