Get ready to apply for a new affordable housing scheme of Jaipur Development Authority as the authority is going to allot houses in the month of November 2017. JDA Jaipur is all set to launch a housing scheme for economic weaker section (EWS), lower income group (LIG) and middle income group (MIG) categories with 1396 houses.
The housing units have been constructed by private developers under Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana located in zones 7, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 14. Maximum number of houses under the scheme are located in Zone-14. These housing units would be allotted at affordable rates of state government.
The JDA official informed that in the financial year 2017-2018, JDA’s target was to construct 20,000 houses for EWS and LIG sections. The civic body, so far, has issued lease deeds to 12,790 house owners falling under these categories.
In two-and-a-half years, JDA has issued 35,300 lease deeds. Out of them, 11,000 EWS and LIG houses were developed in JDA schemes. While the remaining houses were earmarked in private colonies.
Several proposals regarding to the amendments in the affordable housing policy has been proposed by urban development and housing (UDH) department for motivating the developers to come forward for constructing affordable housing for EWS and LIG on both private and government land. And to achieve the target of constructing 10 lakh houses till 2018 under Housing For All mission, the state government will now focus on providing free land for affordable housing projects on public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
“We have proposed to give priority to this model due to cold response from developers to construct EWS/LIG houses on private land. Though the final decision will be taken only after receiving approval from the cabinet,” a UDH official said.
